Aussie Hoops at the Sydney Flames home game 26th October

It was an exciting day when NSW basketball asked for 10 of the BMBA Aussie Hoops girls to play in a half time 5 vs 5 feature game for the Sydney Flames at their home stadium. The girls selected were girls that have been part of the BMBA Aussie hoops program for a year now. Isabella Coghlan (BMBA Aussie Hoops manager) Selected the girls and organized everything for the day.
We arrived at the Sydney Uni Stadium at 2pm for a 3pm start were we received our BMBA pack and were lead to our VIP seats. The girls were excited and ready for their performance.

The game started well, with only 5 points separating the Sydney Flames from the Adelaide Lighting the hole game. The first quarter finished up with one point difference.

Just before half time they were lead to the change room, and organized into their teams of 5 (Aussie Hoops Orange, and Aussie Hoops Blue). Isabella Coghlan and Mitchel Sayers were selected to referee the game, and coach on court.
The half time buzzer sounded, Isabella and Mitchel lead the girls onto the court and started the game.
The crowd clapped and cheered as the girls played the best game I have seen. The defense was amazing, however it was only a minute into the game when the first points were scored, and the crowd went wild, my ears are still ringing. There were some great dribbles down full court and some excellent team play. All up the game was only 5 minutes and there were 8 points scored. The final buzzer sounded and the girls were lead back to their seating.

The final two quarters were played and the game stayed close right up to the end with Sydney Flames losing by 3 Points in the final seconds.

At the end of the game the girls were taken down to the court to meet the players and get their Aussie hoops equipment signed. It was amazing to see the size difference.

It was a great afternoon and all the girls had an amazing time. Thank you to NSW basketball, and the Sydney Flames for organizing this event. A big thank you to the Sydney Flames for all your support on the night, and the amazing experience you have given to 10 up and coming Basketball players.

I would recommend every one to go down to the Sydney Flames next game and see for yourself how great it is to watch them live.
Check out their web site for the next games, and we will see you there. If you can’t make it to the game you can watch the games on the ABC.

Thank you again Sydney Flames and good luck in the season. We will be cheering loud.
